This is a fairly exciting time to be an Admiral fan, well not exciting but less suicidal. This is the first season where the Admirals may be able to place a team worthy of a playoff spot. The Admirals have been iceing a beer league special the last 3 years in order to weasel money from their fans. "That's the way business should be, its cut throat." says Majority Owner, President and General Manager Jason MacIsaac. "Its not about the product on the ice, its about the love of the game...and making shareholders happy." The Admirals are building a solid young core behind the likes of Sam Gagne, Travis Zajac and Valtteri Filppula up front. Kristopher Letang and Francois Beauchemin on the back end and young Czech goaltender Ondrej Pavelec who some say resemble a young Tomas Vokoun. Going into camp there will be interesting battles at all positions. Former first rounder Kyle Chipchura is trying to force his way into a center role. Center is the strongest and deepest position going into camp but many of the players are comfortable on the wing. Also expecting to make an impact is bruising stay at home defensemen Mark Fistric. MacIsaac was vocal on the prospects of dipping into the UFA pool and said if the right signing can be made for a RFA, he will indeed make an offer. "Mike Mottau is a defensemen we have had out eye on, we also feel Stillman would be a worth signing. We won't do anything that doesn't make economical sense."
