After a dismal start to the 2006/07 SICHL season, the Stockholm Cougars have turned the corner. The Cougars are 13-5-2 in their last 20 games and are currently battling four teams for the last three playoff spots in the World Conference. The Cougars rise in the standings occurred after GM Tom Baker added some much needed scoring help with the acquisition of Markus Naslund for Pascal Dupuis and a draft pick. Markus has 36 points in 33 games for the Cougars and is an impressive +8. The Cougar GM then shored up a dismal "D" core by acquiring defencemen Chris Phillips, Rob Scuderi and Hal Gill for future draft picks. The team is now in the hands of the coaching staff and anything short of a trip to the playoffs will be a HUGE disappointment said GM Baker after the teams latest win. Baker added that the franchise has never been to the playoffs nor has the team acheived a .500 win loss record. With just 12 games remaining Stockholm fans are very optimistic that this team will be in the playoffs and attendance is on the rise. "Go Cougars Go" banners are everywhere as playoff fever sweeps through Stockholm.
