Huskies Need Kick In The Butt!!!!!!!!!!!

The Whitehorse Huskies season has been in a downward spiral for the last 10 games going a disappointing 3-6-1. The suspensions to Justin Williams and Bill Guerin , both five games , hurt the Yukoners. Williams was leading the league in scoring for the early part of the season , but injuries from the abuse he has been taking and his retaliatory penalty of five games , slowed him down. Martin St.Louis is the main man for the Huskies now , with fifteen goals and thirty-one assists , for forty six points. Justin Williams has thirty seven points in only thirty-nine games. Geoff Sanderson had it going early , but an injury slowed him down. He has fourteen goals in only thirty seven games , with seven goals being on the powerplay. Big disappointment in the play of Steve Sullivan, the franchise player , who continues to play way below expectations in a Huskies uniform. Mathieu Lombardi has not even come close to the year projected for him. Three goals and only twelve points are dreadful numbers for Lombardi in forty three games On defense a large group of under achievers , waiting for a few to breakaway from the pack. Jim Vandermeer has been the best of the bunch , with nine goals and twenty two assists. He is also a plus four , with one hundred and two minutes in penalties, to lead the team.Brett Clark a powerplay master , who also has played some extra minutes has nineteen points. Big man, Hal Gill has been a top four defenseman , pilling up sixteen points , plus five and a smart forty four minutes in penalties. In goal Tim Thomas has been a big addition in net. He has been super at times , behind a less than stellar Huskies defense. His 2.81 goals against average and .903 save percentage are tops on the team. One only has to compare his numbers to Mathieu Garons to see the difference. Garon has been playing ok , but his numbers are 3.32 and a save percentage of .887 will not get it done. Playing shorthanded so much , with poor penalty killing has taken its toll on the Huskies. Hopefully next year Jordan Staal will add to the Huskies penalty killing. Overall the Huskies start was great , but their play lately has been the road out of the playoffs. Ottawa was a team to catch , but have turned it on to pull away , slamming Whitehorse 4-1 last game."We have two more must wins games vs the Ottawa Slammers in the next three games. Vancouver Island, Calgary and Brandon, are teams we must beat to have any chance. Vancouver Island were a team that I thought would be a shoe in for the playoffs, but are even behind us, so go figure." said coach Daryl Sutter.
