Here we are at the halfway point of the season and ye old town team is still sitting in a playoff spot at 6th with 49 points! The team currently has a 23-15-3 record good for a .598 win % and a +14 goal differential.

Special Teams

The Colonials are rocking a 85.11 PK% good for 4th in the league, but are mid when it comes to their PP opportunities. Coaching staff have tried various line combos and using forwards on the point but not with a ton of success, although leading scorer Tim Stuetzle has 5 PP goals.

The Tendies

With no clear-cut number one backstop and Scotty Wedgewood on LTIR, it has been a goalie by committee approach with Johnathan Quick and his $10M contract stepping up. Quick has 10 wins and leads the league with a 2.11 GAA and also sports a .933 SV%!

Top offensive catalysts

Tim Stuetzle is leading the charge with 49 points and he is the clear-cut mid-season MVP! Timmy will most likely be a runaway candidate at the season’s end and maybe a nominee for the league MVP. He wants the puck and wants a playoff berth! Captain material!

Andrei Svechnikov is 2nd in points on the team with 34 and is the co-leader in assists with 26.

Rookie Luke Evangelista has also impressed with 26 points of his own!

The D

A team mostly made up of shutdown defensemen has helped on the PK side of things, but the team still gives up way too many shots. Mind you many were from the perimeter.

Jacob Middleton has been a bright light since his acquisition from Regina putting up 18 points in 33 GP.

Brett Pesce leads all Boston defensemen in points with 25 in 41GP

The next 41

The team will continue to slug away with the hopes of beating teams it should and stealing wins when it can. Scott Wedgewood is at least a month away from rejoining the team and the team plans to split starts between rookie Pyotr Kochetkov and Quick.

Rookie Watch

Finally let’s take a peek at some of our prospect standouts across various junior and semi-pro leagues:

Oliver Bonk – has been on a heater since returning to London after the WJC. Bonk has 55 points in 42GP which is a big improvement over last year.

Dalibor Dvorsky – Dalibor finished his WJC with Team Slovakia with 6 points in 5GP and returned to Sudbury in the OHL like he didn’t miss a beat. He now has 52 points in 32 games!

Jeremy Hanzel – solid year in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds with PP1 minutes as well. He leads the team with 46 points in 45GP

Arseny Gritsyuk – having a whale of a season with SKA in the KHL. Was one of the top players in January and currently has 37 points in 43 GP and a .860 P/GP.

Noah Ostlund – Ostlund had a pretty solid WJC for Team Sweden, he had 10 points in 7GP and since returning to his home club in the SHL he has also been hot scoring 11 points in his last 10GP!

Well that’s all for now and remember #WhyNotUS
