With the 2023/24 season less than 48 hours away, there is a lot of excitement and buzz in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in regards to the Steelhawks. Their GM Chris Fekete was very aggressive in free agency and got 3 big fish: David Krejci, Semyon Varlamov and Brad Marchand. This was all in round 1 as well. He also went out and acquired Sean Monahan, Travis Konecny, Max Domi, Trevor Moore, Christian Fischer and 24 hours ago, Tomas Hertl. The great thing about these moves too are that the Steelhawks still have a good amount of draft picks as well as some promising futures with the likes of Cam York, Tyson Foerster, Gabriel Perreault, Ryan Leonard, Kent Johnson just to name a few. It seems like if Hamilton was playing in the World Conference, they would be a top 5 team easily. However, being in the ultra competitive Canadian Conference, there are 10 teams fighting for 8 spots. It is even that more important to get off to a great start and accumlate points during the season. Unlike that other league, the majority of the playoff teams arent decided by US Thanksgiving. Either way, it should be a very fun and exciting season and we are looking forward to what happens this season. With that said, here is what the Steelhawks will be looking like when Marchand is close to returning to the lineup (expected to miss the first 10 games of the season)

Robertson - Krejci - Konecny

Marchand - Hertl - Kane

Domi - Monahan - Moore

Hoffman - Lizotte - Fischer

Romanov - Holl

Moser - Lauzon

Sanderson - Barrie

In the meantime, there could be some different line combinations to start off the season, just to see how things gel. Usually pre-season is the time to do that but us, like most GM's here, don't want to risk the injury bug and lose a top line center for a month or a top dman for 3 weeks. Multiple players pretty much. Losing Marchand was bad enough, we didn't want to lose anybody else. So with that said, Thursday November 16th is the start of the season and the Steelhawks, like the other 29 teams in the league, are all ready to get the ball rolling.
