The Colonials as you may have heard are in a bit of a rebuild of recent years. Since 2019 the team has made a whopping 54 draft picks, all of whom are in various stages of their development. As we have heard not all prospects develop in a straight line. It's not linear. It has been increasingly apparent that a number of prospects are developing rather qucikly in lower leagues and are starting to flood towards he GHA next year. Prospects like Simon Nemec, Ridly Greig, Raphael Lavoie, Jean-Luc Foudy, Joel Hofer, Pyotr Kochetkov, Jeremie Poirier, Tyler Tullio, Xavier Simoneau, Graeme Clarke, Jordan Spence, Luke Evangelista, William Eklund and more. Tim Stuetzle is emerging as a bonafide superstar.

The team is also poised to have a shot at a few really valuable prospects in the 2023 draft including what appears to be a generational talent in Connor Bedard. In order to increase those odds, the team is going to have to win some post elimination gold points.

With that in mind, the team recently sent a 3rd and 7th rounder to the Norsemen to acuire former 1st round pick Nino Niederreiter which appears to be a cheap and tidy FP option for next season and in a seperate deal the team acquired puck moving defenseman Torey Krug who ha a 2 year deal to work with.

Lat but not least, the team had in recent days been targeting a few young stars with the hopes of landing one to play alongside Timmy Superstar going forward. That deal was sealed this evening when GM Graves played a cat and mouse game with Aces GM Nielson who happened to be working his phone while in line at Disney World! In the end the Colonials landed coveted star winger Andrei Svechnikov and a 2nd rounder in a deal that saw Simon Nemec, Ridly Greig plus some additional futures and cash go back to the Aces.

This deal advances the rebuild a little and the acquired players will help with those golden games.

GM Graves is likely to be quieter now as the trade deadline approaches.
