Potential Team Canada Lineup for World Championships

We preview the roster selections for Team Canada for the upcoming World Hockey Championship.

Based on the teams eliminated from playoff contention in the SICHL, Team Canada will have plenty of talent to choose from with a number more coming available once more teams are eliminated from the playoff race. Based on today's standings we chose the best available players to form a team.  We have selected 13 forwards, 7 defenceman and 3 goalies. 

FORWARDS

Line 1: Brad Marchand (Ott)- Steven Stamkos (Phi)- Drake Batherson (Phi) 

Line 2- Alexis Lafreniere (Sto)- Jordan Staal (HBG)- Josh Bailey (Sto)

Line 3- Nick Paul (Ham)- J.G. Pageau (Ott)- Dylan Strome (Sto)

Line 4- Michael McLeod (Phi)-Peyton Krebs (Dub)- Dylan Cozens (Phi)

Extra: Corey Perry

Potential additions could include: Nazem Kadri (Cal), Max Domi (Cal), Robert Thomas (Cal), and Tyler Bertuzzi (Cal). 

DEFENCE

P1: Samuel Girard (Phi)-Shea Theodore (Phi)

P2: Jamie Drysdale (Ham)-Kris Russel (HBG)

P3: Marco Scandella (Sto)-Ty Smith (Sto)

EX: Brayden Coburn (Ham)

Potential additions could include Brendan Dillon (Calgary)

GOALIES

G1: Carey Price (Tor)

G2: Chris Dreidger (Ott)

EX: Jake Allen (Tor)

Overall, Team Canada is quite balanced with a group that will bring offence as well as play defensively in their own end. As more teams are eliminated the talent pool will grow. Once the season has concluded a final roster will be announced.
