2025-26 was not a normal season for the Havana Revolution, coming off their 3rd cup win in a row with a very strong roster, the pressure remained on the team to deliver yet again. And boy did they deliver, racking up a historic league record breaking 73 wins and 148 points, shattering even the asterisk 2012-13 Express season where they only amassed 72 wins. (previous non asterisk season bests were 65 wins Portland 2024-25 and Havana 2022-23). 

The season was not just successful for the team itself but many individual players had special achievements this year. Although no forwards really lit off, Leon Draisaitl quietly put together his second 50 goal campaign, which is normally is tops but Portland Buckroos forward Seth Jarvis went bonkers mode with 63 goals. Mikhail Sergachev really came into this own this year breaking a team record with 72 assists and assembling the best season ever by a Revolution defensemen with 87points. In both cases he beat out the man he was brought in to carry the torch from...Brent Burns. Lastly Sir Connor Hellebuyck put together a historic season with 73 wins a 1.86GAA and .924 Sv% all the while making him a shoe in for another Dryden. 

Another anomaly was the silence of the team on the trade front. Although one small deal was achieved at the trade deadline it was rumoured that GM Prozeller and A/GM Sittler were trying to take bigger swings without finding any partners. "Maybe after what we accomplished last year at the trade deadline, GM's weren't taking our calls? I am not sure but there wasn't nearly the same quantity or quality of offers coming our way, which did make it hard to facilitate a deal." The teams only deal saw long term depth forward and expiring UFA Phillip Danault shipped to Dublin for familiar face winger Josh Anderson. Giving the team a little more grit and strength at wing while also having Anderson under contract for next season.  

Turning attention to the playoffs is where the anomalies have thus far stopped. Like usual the team mis-stepped it's way through the 1st round, at times looking uninspired against a strongly assembled and coached Dublin Shamrocks squad who just one year prior upset the Portland Buckaroos after a dominate regular season. "To say that wasn't in the back of our minds would be lying" admitted captain Brent Burns. "But we know who we are in this room, how to reflect internally and find our strength. It was probably good that we did because it allowed us to really power through the next series." Dispatching the Shamrocks in six games saw Havana move on to the Portland Buckaroos themselves for round 2. After three dominating wins to start the series the team put on a little bit of cruise control for games 4/5 but did close out the series, moving them onto the Conference finals. 

A rematch of last seasons conference finals is about to kick off seeing the Havana Revolution take a frequent trading partner and past punching bag the London Monarchs. Now this years Monarchs are different than years past, a much more rounded team with top tier goaltending, a well rounded forward core and determined defense. It is true Havana won the regular season series 5-0 and has punted London from the playoffs in all 4 of their previous meetings, but history is just that. If Havana wants to take a real shot at their #Quest4theQuad they need to find a way past the Monarchs yet again.    The conference finals kick off in Havana this week, and the team is back to healthy and ready for the final push to cement their place in league history.
