Huskies Sweep Sonics

The Whitehorse Huskies sweep their home and home series with arch rival Edmonton Sonics.

Price started the two game tilt with a 40 save shutout right in Wayne Gretzky Place , before over 17,000 in attendance. Alexandre Burrows scored the winner at 7:19 of the third period. Alex had been moved off the shutdown line and redeployed on the second unit. The move paid off with a game winner. Brandon Prust set the tone in this nasty game. Prust totalled 37 minutes in penalties , getting in three fights. Prust pounded Derek Dorsett in his first fight. Next was Andrew Ladd , who just plain got beat up , badly. The final bout was with Jamie McGinn who seemed to wrestle and hold on . Smart move as the big right hand of Prust was loaded. Brandon Prust was ejected from game at 10:56 of 3rd period.

The next night the game shifted to Whitehorse Yukon. The buzz was all over the Territory as the Sonics are on every Huskies fans hit list. Again Price stood tall as number one star again , picking up the win. Superstar Sonics young goalie Cory Schneider again played super , picking up second star. Huskies got off to a two nothing lead in the first period. The power play marker by Martin St Louis his fifth from Drew Doughty and Alexandre Burrows. Burrows clicking with St.Louis since move to second line. Drew Doughty then scores the winner short handed on a breakaway pass from Dave Bolland. In the second period Andrew Ladd goes after Drew Doughty , the fight spurs on the Sonics , they score 18 seconds later. Devin Setoguchi scores his 5th , but the Sonics fall short again. Doughty stepped up his game with a third star , the line , 5 hits , 5 shots , 5 for fighting , plus one , shorthand goal , assist and two take aways.

Huskies are still waiting for the Dubynk and White flight to land in Whitehorse. The Huskies announced today that Michal ROZSIVAL will be headed to London. We need to open up a spot for Ian White , down the road , plus the steady play of Jeff Schultz made the move a go. The Huskies would like to thank Michal Rozsival for his strong play. The Huskies will receive a 3rd round pick in 2017 , they hope Dubynk and White show up from their other deal. Jeremy Smith will get the start against the Vipers , his first in the S.I.C.H.L. . Smith was a 3rd round 49th overall pick in 2007. Smith gets his big chance because of Dubynk mix up.
