Setting a new team record of 10 goals in the biggest game of the year vs number one ranked Ottawa Slammers. Jordan Staal set a team record with five goals , on nine shots.

"This was a test for this team of players. Many new parts have been added , many players have been asked to take on rolls. Look at the shot blocks , take always , face-offs won , fights and hits. Big time star players are taking on rolls for the good of the team. A big time number one goalie , that comes up big. These are new this year." said coach Daryl Sutter.

"This was a big treat for our hometown fans , the number one ranked team in the hockey world , the Ottawa Slammers. Our captain Jordan Staal leads the Huskies to victory with five goals and a record setting ten goal game." beamed GM DR Morrison.

"Well we needed to play our best against the number one team in the hockey world. I think a big key was how great Pricey played in net. Brandon Sutters shorthanded goal on a great long pass from David Bolland , gave us a super lift. The fans gave us energy on this night and helped in the victory." said Staal.

"Brandon Prust answered the bell when Chris Neal started getting silly. This freed up a guy like Wayne Simmons to add three set ups for the offense. Karl Alzner with six takeaways is not in the points stats. You look at Drew Doughty and no points. Look again , plus four , five shots , three hits , five shot blocks , three takeaways , 24 min. plus ice time and this league has know idea how good this guy is. Coming back to the Yukon to play for the Huskies , I have noticed this small market team has been over looked by the hockey world." second star Marty St.Louis talked about his new team mates. Marty St.Louis signed a three year deal to return to the Huskies , were he started and chaises all time great Bill Guerin for most all time Huskies stats.

These were the reaction of players , coach and GM of the Huskies after the home ice victory over the number one ranked Slammers.

The weather outside the Ice Barn in Whitehorse the Yukon's capital , was minus forty five , but inside it was the hottest this team has seen in many a year. From chilly Whitehorse reporting Dave Smith.
