MARLEAU, Patrick is off to a slow start , with only one goal and a minus two. James Neal is on the same pace that he was from last year. He is off to a fast start , with a goal , two assists and seven shots. Jordan Staal the captain of the Huskies , set the tone , with a big hit and fight with older brother Eric in game one. The Huskies won the home opener before 16,257 fans , with a three one victory , over the Fredericton Express. Star of the game for the Huskies was Corey Crawford , who made 34 saves in the game , with a .971 save percentage.

Former first round pick Kenndal Mcardle has made the club , buy leading the team in preseason scoring , hits and fights. Mcardle is trying to live down the memories of Whitehorse taking him 16th overall , instead of superstar goalie Carey Price. Mcardle is tied with Blake Comeau for the Huskies lead in hits. " We wanted a litte more grit in our lineup this year. Colton Orr and Kendle will help set the tone. " smerked GM DR Morrison.

When asked about being shuned by Acadia Golden Bears in the 3rd Jersey Schedule , GM DR Morrison said " It is a smart move by Guy Flaming , we intend to get blood all over what ever jersey they are wearing. Is this a fashion show or hockey league?" Next question was in reguard to Blake Comeaus five minute kneeing penalty against the Nova Scotia Schooners.  "That call was made up and cost us the game. I wish they had video review for faking injuries , we will not tolerate that type of 'soccer' acting ever on our club." What do you think the long run lookout is for Whitehorse with the S.I.C.H.L. 's smallest market?  For fourteen years I have heard the same question , when are you leaving the Yukon? The answer is still and will always be , not until you take this franchise from my cold dead hand. We are not going to Los Angeles , Houston , Dallas , Hamilton or anywhere else. We just attracted the crown jewel of the free agent signing in Patrick Marleau , so we are still a contender. We finished sixth last year , so remain a very competitive team and very young.' GM Morrison was not in the mood to answer questions after the 'Comeau' kneeing penalty major, but did his best.
