Join us in Toronto in 2022!

Planning is currently underway for the follow-up to the single-most memorable weekend in the 25-year history of the SICHL! The Toronto-area GMs are excited to welcome the rest of the SICHL Community to T-Dot / Hogtown / the 6ix / the Big Smoke / the Center of the Universe... to meet, greet, discuss, and debate the game that some of us have been playing for nearly 25 years.

Then, day two is one of the biggest days on the annual SICHL Calendar—Draft Day—live and in person!

FAQ

I'm new here. What is this?

Back in 2017, 17 of the SICHL's Managers gathered in Edmonton, Alberta for the Super Summit + Live Draft. What was conceived as a one-time only event to celebrate the 20th season of the SICHL was such a success that before the weekend was even over a follow-up was proposed for five years later.

So we're doing these every five years?

Not necessarily. We are taking these things one at a time and if in another five years there's interest, we'll consider it..

What about COVID-19?

Fingers crossed that in a year's time the global pandemic will be mostly behind us. Our guess is as good as yours as to what things will be like, but signs are positive that things will be back to normal by August 2022. Our go/no-go date isn't until March 2022, so we have some time to see how things shake out.

The new playoff lottery rule is dumb.

That wasn't a question.

Why Toronto?

Since 2017, a few of the SICHL's Managers have relocated, and as of July 2021, there's a critical mass of SICHLers in the Toronto-Ottawa Corridor. While we recognize that Toronto as a city is a bit more costly than Edmonton, there are also unique opportunities that can be only be provided by one of the great cities of the world.

What is the Registration Deadline?

Although the registration deadline is not until February 2022, we strongly urge you to confirm your attendance by registering as soon as you know that you are coming. This will help with ongoing planning and budgeting activities, and believe it or not, YOUR presence helps to encourage other GMs to join us.

The final go/no-go decision will be made on or around March 1st, 2022, so do not make hotel or flight arrangements until then. If the event is cancelled on this date due to lack of interest, all registration fees will be refunded.

Why is there a Registration Fee?

Similar to any conference that you may attend as part of your "other" job, there are incidental costs involved in putting together an event like this. We don't want to spoil any surprises by revealing too many details, but rest assured that this is not a "for profit" event, and that every registration dollar will go towards making this a unique experience. If you trust where we've guided the league experience thus far, then you have an idea what you can expect.

I like how the new playoff rule incentivises actually winning some games instead of trying to lose every one.

Agreed. You are a very smart person and, if rumors are true, an excellent lover.

Who's coming?

The only pre-registration attendees confirmed as of July 2021 are Commissioner Mark MacRae and Deputy Commissioner Mike Franceschini, with verbal commitments from a number of others. Once registration opens in November 2021, the list of attendees on this page will be updated as registrations are confirmed.

What about my family?

While most activites will be of interest primarily to SICHL GMs, you may consider planning a family vacation around the SICHL weekend. Toronto is one of the great cities of the world, with noteworthy family-friendly attractions like Canada's Wonderland and Ripley's Aquarium.

If you want any more information on what you or your family can do while in Toronto, you're welcome to contact Mike and he will try to point you in the right direction.

Can I still be part of the draft even if I can't make it to Toronto?

Of course! The entry draft will continue to be run as it always has been, but you won't be having nearly as much fun as the rest of us.

  • Subject to minimum attendance figures.
  • Subject to venue availability. Backup dates will be August 26-27, 2022. Dates will be finalized prior to registration opening in November 2021.
  • Event Go/No-Go final decision will take place when registration closes in February 2022 and is subject to minimum attendance figures. If the event is cancelled at this time due to lower than expected registrations, ALL registration fees will be refunded in full.
  • This is a not-for-profit event with 100% of the registration fees going directly towards planned activities. Once the decision has been made to proceed with the event in February 2022, vendor agreements and lead times may necessitate paid invoices as early as March 2022.
