Norsemen Prepare for Home Stretch of Regular Seasonby Matt MacInnis | March 22, 2018, 3:56 PM ET
The Norsemen’s remaining schedule seems to favour a second consecutive playoff appearance, as 11 of their remaining 20 games will be against teams that are currently not in playoff spots.
In fact, throughout the back end of the schedule, just two of the 20 games will be played against teams that have more points than the Norsemen (Colonials, Wheaties and Cougars).
There will be a couple repeat games in the last 20. The Norsemen will play the Barons, Rockies and Sonics twice each – the two against Edmonton could prove pivotal as GM Mike Frankencheesie’s squad sits a mere two points back of Vancouver Island at this time.
The Norsemen will not play the Golden Bears or Schooners again this regular season, but have single matches against the Wheat Kings and Huskies.
The Norsemen have at least one game against every non-playoff Canadian Conference team, with the exception of the Canons, who are currently sitting in a tie for 9th place with the Mustangs.
If the Norsemen do make the playoffs, it will be the second season in a row, but only the third time since 2012-13, after three disastrous seasons where talented teams severely underperformed.
