Huskies Reportby Dave Smith | December 2, 2016, 12:12 PM ET
The Huskies are limping along with a losing record and a minus in the goals for and against. " Were scoring two goals a game. We need to up that fast. We are missing Frolic and Bobby Orr winner Drew Doughty to injury , both expected back in 3 games. We get Drew back our powerplay will pick up. Frolic is our penalty kill and shutdown guy , we miss that skill." said coach Daryl Sutter.
John Gibson was the top goalie in the preseason. Since the season started however he has lost his form. A weak .880 save percent and a 3.02 goals against average , with a one and three won loss record , this is a bad stat for the rookie. Lucky Carey Price has been hot early, with a 1.74 goals against and a 0.914 save percentage.
Up front top goals scorers Brendan Gallagher and Zach Parise both with 3 goals. Defenseman Michael Stone is leading the scoring on the team, playing eight games and recording one goal and five assists for six points. Mark Stone who signed a huge new contract in the offseason and has yet to find his form. Mark Stone has only four points , but is getting shots , but with a 7 percent shooting not many going in,
Youngster Radek Faksa has played a few games after Frolic was injuried. The former first rounder has played very well for the Huskies this year. Penalty killing and checking are his strong points. Nikita Zadorov has been the replacement for Drew Doughty and the huge Russian has held his own. With two assist and seven hits in eight games , he has gained valuable game experiance.
The glaring weak point once again is the 4th line. All three fourth liners , Jori Lehtera , Jimmy Hayes and Shawn Matthias , have no points and are combined minus seven. The fourth line has failed to help out in any way , even with powerplay time and a fair amount of playing time. These three players will have to fight to keep their jobs.
To sum up the season so far , big room for improvement. Team either plays better or playoffs will not be happening this year. The Huskies have tied themsevles to this group for now , huge change in results are needed for it to stay that way.
