It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas in Boston!by SICHL Insider | December 24, 2015, 8:54 AM ET
No stranger to big trades or bold moves, GM Graves was at it again leading up the Christmas break. This past week seen the team retool with an eye on the present and future of this club.
Heading to Boston as a result of those two deals are young and talented scoring centre Mark Scheifele who has first line potential, prospect Christian Dvorak who is leading the OHL with 65 points in 27GP and on pace for a 170 point season. Dvorak is one of the 7 Colonial prospects who will be playing for his country in the 2016 WJCs!
The biggest piece in the deal is smallish but effective scoring centre Bryan Little. Little had 68 points last year in the SICHL and there is no reason to expect anything less with the Colonials. Little has two years remaining on his deal at $5 million per season.
Also heading Boston's way are two more 2nd round picks (WPG & CGY) and $2.5 million in cash.
Boston will have nine draft picks in the first 3 rounds of the 2016 draft.
The question of the day is whether or not they are finished tweaking the roster! Rumour out of Beantown has Travis Zajac, T.J. Oshie and Lee Stempniak all on the block. In regards to the trades, GM Graves said "we had too many UFAs to deal with in the next few years so the plan is to manage the roster more effectively and ensure there is talent in the system to keep the Colonials competitive for the long term. That is pretty evident now in the number of players I will be scouting at the WJHC in Helsinki."
Speaking of the 2016 WJC! Here are the Colonial prospects playing in the popular annual tourney:
Filip Chlapik for the Czech Republic
Adam Ollas Mattsson for Team Sweden
Sergey Zborovskiy for Team Russia
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all SICHL GMs!
