Aces Add Kesler and Martin to the Deck

by Dustin Nielson | January 31, 2013, 11:17 PM ET

The Las Vegas Aces have pulled the trigger on another major deal as GM Dustin Nielson continues to remain focused on winning it all this year.

Late Thursday night the Aces sent prospect Oscar Klefbom and their 1st round pick in 2013 to the Cougars in exchange for Ryan Kesler and Paul Martin

"In order to win in this league this year I believe it will be about having depth. We are now 15 deep up front and 9 deep on the blueline.

Kesler has three more years on his deal while Paul Martin will be a UFA at the end of the season. When healthy the Aces line up should look like this the rest of the way, or atleast until the next trade.

Vanek - Sedin - Toews

Ryder - M. Koivu - Semin

Briere - Kesler - Havlat

Brouwer - S. Koivu - Stempniak

Steve Downie, Lars Eller and Jay Beagle will be the scratches up front.

On the blueline things should look like this.

Seabrook - Subban

Campbell - Gill

Pitkanen - Martin

Christian Erhoff, Henrik Tallinder, Raphael Diaz will be healthy scratches.

Chris Pronger will be out for a few more months and the Aces may just save him until the playoffs.

Roberto Luongo will see the majority of the work between the pipes but Jonas Enroth has been playing well for the Aces this year and will continue to get a fair shot.
