3 Deals Equal Change/Promiseby Logan Winters | January 22, 2013, 8:27 PM ET
The Toronto Titans’ pulled off three separate deals recently, and both management and fans like the changes and promise they bring to the franchise’s future.
The combination of these deals saw…
IN: Mike Cammalleri, Corey Crawford, Simeon Varlamov, Eddie Lack, Brendan Mikkelson, Harry Zolnierczyk, WHI 4th(2013) OUT: Devan Dubnyk, Ian White, Maxime Talbot, Justin Fontaine, TOR 3rd (2013), TOR 7th(2013) *Note: Acadia’s 2013 3rd was acquired, but sent back out in these deals
“Bringing Crawford and Varlamov into our organization gives us two solid young netminders for now and for the future” commented Titans’ GM Derrick Roslaniec. “They are currently giving us a combined .927 SP, which is far better than Dubnyk’s exiting. 881 SP. We liked Devan, but he wasn’t working here, and we believed he would be better suited in Whitehorse.”
Defensive forward Maxime Talbot was an asset the Titans wanted to keep, but acquiring scoring forward Mike Cammalleri in exchange was well worth it. “Cammy fit in immediately, and his scoring touch was needed. His results so far proved we made the right move” noted Derrick.
“Overall we made our team younger, but more importantly we are better now, and poised to be better in the future. The short term results have been promising, and we look forward to what the long term future brings.”
