For those of you new/not so new to the SICHL (Jeff D, Phil), welcome to the Power Rankings. Since we are the best fantasy hockey league in world, we require the best FEATURES - The Fanatic! The Insider Twitter Account! And, of course, the POWER RANKINGS, constructed, conducted and hardly edited by yours truly, HSkey the GM of the Hamburg Gladiators.
We had a great time this year doing our traditional video pre-season power rankings, with the added bonus of one KASIM HUSAIN (GM of the Montreal Millionaires), the usual dry wit of MATTHEW MACINNIS (GM of the Vancouver Island Norsemen) and the memes of ERIC SCHNEIDER (GM of the Nova Scotia Schooners). I hope you all enjoy!
As usual, complaints and comments can be passed along below in the comments.
Another year, another year where Guy is the number 1 team coming into the season. He puts the H in the SICHHHL, because he's THAT. DAMNED. GOOD.
Gary is all in this year. Or was that last year? Or next year?
Eric has a lethal core of forwards, and a goaltending tandem that is the envy of the league. Can the Schooners take home their first championship?
The Mad Scientist of the SICHL, returns.
(deep breath) BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
The Riders have been the sexy, underdog pick for a while, but they're not going to surprise anybody if they're a top team this year.
Sean's Spartans have got balance. They've got style. They've got grace. They've got it all.
Sam's cut his teeth and is not joking around anymore.
The hell is Matt doing all the way down here? (checks Matt Murray's rating). Oooohhhhh....
Spoiler alert - I somehow beat Tom's Cougars in game 1 of the regular seasons. I'm as confused as you are.
As usual, Pat's success lies with Pat. And Karlsson. And Karlsson's DF rating...er, scratch that last one.
I'm not sure if you guys remember, but Norm won the Championship 2 seasons ago. And Kirk won last year. Can the World Conference (superior, cultured conference) THREEPEAT?
The champs roll into town with a solid lineup, a championship belt, cash in the bank, gas in the tank, and a bad little mama with her ass in my face! (That makes sense right? Eh, maybe edit that out in post)
League favorite Doug is 15th this year! Which is ALMOST middle of the pack, but since we like him so much, we'll round up and say he's in the top half.
It's a REBUILD for the Aces! How good is Dustin? Well apparently a rebuild year still gets you 16th overall.
Mike is raring to go, more than anybody I can assure you, in all manners of SICHL. He told us this summer as he drove us all over Vancouver's bar scene. He is a gem!
Hamburg's favorite trading partner! You just stay away from my Partridge in a Pear Tree!
The Commish is a long way from the top, but he's got some studly prospect and some solid forwards. Don't count him out!
Bryce snagged the 3rd overall spot and selected Zadina. Good times, methinks, for the Vipers in the future! Now...not as much.
Michael's Monarchs are 22nd, and he's on the prowl...for a good deal, a cream ale and fun times. I bet he gets at LEAST two out of those three.
Kasim is about a year away from being a serious competitor. Wouldn't you like to have a starting defensive duo of HAGG and HAGUE? I know I would (and so would Allan Ramsay!)
Bob's Barons probably won't light the world on fire, but with an expansion team, the talent pool is diluted and I think just about anybody could sneak into the playoffs in the World Conference!
The Metropolitans probably could use some help at forward. And defense. And goaltending. But they DEFINITELY don't need help being at 25th in the Power Rankings!
Sheetal's Tigers are 26th this year in the SICHL Power Rankings. This is not a repeat.
(deep breath) YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!
Ian (and I) are RIGHT where we belong. At the bottom, with a smile on our face.
Ryan's got his first round pick back, and it's a loooong climb to the top, but I will always stand by him in rebuilding camaraderie. Good luck!!
